Through her involvement in both academics and extracurricular activities, Hannah Kim ’26 is making the most of her time at Carthage and preparing for a future where she can make a meaningful impact in health and wellness. One of the main reasons Hannah decided to go to Carthage was for the opportunity to major in allied health science and be a part of the women’s lacrosse team simultaneously. Hannah further engages herself in the campus community as a member of the Student Government, the Student-Athlete Advisory Community, the Pre-Health Club, and the Special Olympics Club. Additionally, she is an allied health science mentor and orientation leader.

In her free time, Hannah likes to explore the surrounding Kenosha region. She loves to go to local food stops, especially ones in the lively downtown area. Her favorites include Anna’s On the Lake, The Buzz, and Slip 56.

“My relationships with faculty have helped me succeed because someone is always in my corner, and they are always willing to help no matter what.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because I had the opportunity to play lacrosse. I loved my visit, and I loved meeting my future teammates. They were so welcoming, and the team was everything I wanted. It consists of a winning culture and competition while being a family at the end of the day.”

Faculty mentors

“The faculty have impacted my life significantly. They are always willing to help, want you to succeed, and want the best for you. The faculty not only care about you as a student, but also you as a person.”

Career goal

“My career goal is to be a physical therapist. I want to work specifically with student-athletes. I am a firm believer in working on mental health as well as physical health. An injury is not only physically challenging, but also mentally draining. As I am treating my patients physically, I also want to work on mental toughness with them.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is the beach outside of The Tower or the second floor of the David A. Straz Jr. Center because of the view of the lake.”

Favorite memory

“My favorite memories are when they bring the food trucks on campus during the first week of school.”

Best study tip

“Go to a location that’s not your room because you can easily get distracted. I love studying in the Straz Center or in the downstairs library.”

Best tip for making friends

“Putting yourself out there is essential. It is scary at first, a new place and new people, but you eventually need to step out of your comfort zone. You never know who you’ll meet, but you meet some of your lifelong friends here.”

Biggest surprise

“The biggest surprise is how quickly time flies by when you’re in college.”

Advice for other students in your major?

“I advise getting your work done early and staying on top of it. It’s easy to fall behind, so staying on top of it from the beginning is essential to success in the program.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“8-year-old me would not be surprised with my current career path. I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to go into healthcare, but I was unsure what to do.”
